Natural Infertility Treatments

Today, more and more couples are turning towards natural methods in order to find a cure for infertility. There have been several cases where natural ways of treatment have proved successful. Some of most prominent ways of treating infertility naturally are:

i. Aromatherapy
ii. Flower remedies
iii. Usage of herbs

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is said to increase fertility by reducing the stress level in the woman’s body. It also improves the overall health of the woman. Used as an infertility treatment, aromatherapy works in a two-pronged way:

(a) it regulates the woman’s menstrual cycle and helps her to attain a healthy reproductive system
(b) it brings down the stress level in the body, and even acts as an aphrodisiac

This method makes use of essential oils extracted from various plants. Essential oils are the highly concentrated form of parts such as leaves, bark, roots, and seeds. These essential oils relieve muscular tension and help the body to relax. However, due to the concentrated nature of these oils, care should be taken not to apply them directly on the human skin. Instead, they should be diluted with bases such as almond oil or grapeseed oil. In such cases, the essential oils should feature from about 1-3% in the base oil. This mixture should be used as massage oil. Regular massage is important for a healthy reproductive system, and it also acts as an aphrodisiac for both the partners. These essential oils can also be burned with water in a heating device, helping its aroma to spread all across. This aroma has healing properties, and relaxes the body and mind. Other than that, women can also use the essential oils in their bath. This also will help reduce the stress in the body. The essential oils that can be highly effective in boosting fertility are those of rose, chamomile, basil, geranium, lavender, balm, and jasmine.

Flower remedies
Like aromatherapy, flower remedy is also used to relax the woman’s body, thereby improving her reproductive health. Flower remedies can be used either alone or in combination with other flowers. But, in case of single essence flowers, dilution with water is necessary. A combination can be put to use immediately. However, experts recommend a dose of 4-6 drops on the tongue only. Flowers that help fertility are wisteria, which helps attain a feeling of sensuality in the body. Aspen reduces stress, while white chestnut flower aids positive feeling. Flowers such as noni, she oak, and vervain also reduce stress.

Herbs
Usage of herbs is one of the most popular methods of treating infertility through natural methods. Herbs such as chaste berry are particularly known for improving hormonal imbalances in the body. It also regulates the menstrual cycle. Dong Quai also regulates periods, and helps balance the estrogen level in the body. However, this herb has blood-thinning qualities and should not be used before periods. Wild yam is also known to aid fertility in women by increasing the production of progesterone. But it should not be taken before ovulation, as it has properties that may hamper the process. It is advisable, therefore, that wild yam be taken only after ovulation has taken place. False unicorn root has a normalizing effect on the ovaries and can help in the process of reproduction. Extra dosage of the herb however, may result in irritation in the kidneys, vomiting, and blurred vision. There are some herbs though, that should be avoided while trying to boost fertility. Herbs such as ginseng and black and blue cohosh can be particularly harmful.
